College Lowering Emmisions

Monday, 6 June 2011 by elizabethf1

To lower the effect the college car park on the environment and climate change theyshould  limit who parks within the car park making it just for staff, to discourage people driving to college but also limit the amount of spaces available to people so they cannot physically bring their cars.

Making a Difference: College

The area I looked at within the college is the car park. One of the biggest polluters to carbon emmisions from cars. College should limit car parking space to encourage more people to car sahre. They should also limit who parks within the car park making it just for staff, to discourage people driving to college. I personally could help this area of the college by car sharing rather than bring two cars to the same place. Everyone within the college should pay a part in improving this area of the college, from heads of schools to students.

Making a Difference: Campaign

A child dies of unnecessary poverty every three seconds, the make poverty history campaign  is the biggest anti-poverty movement which take the necessary steps to fight against poverty. Their main aim is to get rid of poverty all together.

Burma is ruled by one of the world’s most brutal military dictatorships, which flatly refuses to recognise the legally elected Government of the country, leaving people living here will little or no rights. The main aim of Burma Campaign is to put an end to this dictatorship by discouraging international investment and tourism.

Making a Difference: Trailer

The trailer has made me think about my actions and how what I do can affect many other people arcoss the globe. It is showing the weather conditions we cause by not paying attention to climate change that destroy lives. The trailer is targeting us to make us change the way we do things, if everyone does one thing we have the chance to change the world.

Cause and Effects [2]

I think people living in bangladesh will think, people within more economically developed countries are causing the climate change. Personally I thin richer, more economically developed countries are to blame because they are producing more and more highly technical products each year, and it is the production process and the use of these which effect the environment and the climate. I believe that poor countries are being effected more by climate change as they can not afford to but protection in place before climatic disaster, equally they cannot afford a clean up operation to prevent future disasters. This is not fair as they have the least contribution to the changes but they are suffering for it.  The most important thing I’ve learnt about climate change is to reduce carbon emmissions effect global warming.

Causes and Effects of Climate Change.

Everday we use many different things which use energy affecting the climate. Today I have had three key examples of this from driving to college to using this computer. By driving to college I have added to the carbon emmisions within our atmosphere I could reduce this by car sharing with other people going to the same place. During my day at college I have used the printers and the computers. These use up energy I do not necessarily need to use. In the future I could reduce the amount of energy I am using by hand writing my assignments rather than typing them up, then printing my work off.

What Causes Climate Change.

In this blog we are supposed to view two videos and then compare the two, stating which one we are inclined to agree with. Unfortunately one of the videos did not appear I was only able to view the ‘News report on Russia fires, Aug 2010’ video. Honestly, I disagree with Piers Corbyn’s comment that climate change is not down to man. I strongly believe we play a part in the climate changes however, I equally believe man is not solely to blame for the changes that are occurring. There are many things we can do to minimise climate change.

First Impressions of Climate Change.

Hi, my name is Beth; this is my first blog for P&P. I am currently studying a BND in Travel and Tourism. Outside of college I enjoy listening to music and catching up with friends, I also have a keen interest in travelling. During my time in education I have had the opportunity to travel to New York, Tunisia and most recently, The Gambia. The Gambia is a once in a life time, out of this world experience which I recommend to everyone. It opens your eyes to how privileged we are, yet how resentful we are of things many people just do not have. Within our course we are looking at different Global Issues which may directly or indirectly effect us long term, therefore I am aware of how climate change is affecting the world. Most of what I know about climate change comes from what I have learnt through school and college and from what I have seen in the news. We should all be aware that climate change is a growing problem. Recently we have all seen the effects of climate change in Australia and Japan. These may not be directly affecting us now however, these disasters could occur anywhere and there are things we can do to prevent them or minimise the amount of these disasters happening.
