Welcome to Write to React!
7 January 2010
Write to React is a new initiative from People & Planet
which engages students through interactive online learning courses. During five
stages of online sessions, which can be accessed flexibly, students will engage
with global issues on a local, a national and an international level. Using
their own blog as their primary tool, students will be directed to provide
personal and critical comment on online content, including films, articles and
other blogs.
Two courses are available; Ethical Fashion and
Climate Change.
If are a teacher, you can
find out more about Write to React
and if you are a student, you can take part by
signing-up online.

To lower the effect the college car park on the environment and climate change theyshould limit who parks within the car park making it just for staff, to discourage people driving to college but also limit the amount of spaces available to people so they cannot physically bring their cars.

hello
My name is Tequila Darby i am 18years old studying Travel and Tourism at south Nottingham College, I am planning on going to southampton univercity in september to study Internation Tourism Management because i have a stong passion of working in hotel business aboard and experiencing different lifestyle and ways of living also learning and seeing the way different countries operarte in the Tourism Industry.
I have learnt alot about climate change within my time in school and college, learning about how it has effected different countries for example hurricane katrina which effect thousand of peoples ome and medical facilities , also the earth quakes which happened in Japan. i know and have learnt that climate change needs to be sorted and people need to try and take care of the planet they live in and their eviroments to make the world a greater and more eco-friendly place.

This video makes you think what the world is coming to!!!
We need to stop and act now or we will put ourselves at danger and the people around us. The hurricane Katrina made people suffer, homes were lost and people died. This video tells you how we can reduce carbon emissions and stop this from happening.
At the begging of the video it states reality and tells you what is happening and at the end it tells you all the positive notes.

What a person living in Bangladesh might think about climate change and who is causing it…people in bangadesh might blame rich countries such as th U.K and Untied States. they will blame us as they think we don’t care about what we are doing when we are using resources and much and we want, and even when we don’t need them or need to use them we still do.
Who do you think is responsible for climate change, rich countries or poor ones? i think that rich countries are using more engery sources and resources, but i also think poor countries are to blame too although they probably can’t help it as they need to burn wood and make fires in order cook food, they need resources to live and they don’t know how to be economical and even if they could they probably couldn’t afford to.
Why are some countries suffering from extreme weather more than others? definatly, i think that countries that are close to equator are experiencing a lot of different extreme weather condtions. I think that that the UK has also experienced a lot of different change in the weather over the past few years, we had a summer that was mostly raining, we had a really hot year this year. and we havn’t had much rain.

In bangladesh there has been flooding which floods the entire region, this is bad for the people living there as people have been loosing contact with family and friends and homes etc. The people there are really scared and want it to stop. I think that the richer countries are to blame for climate change as they think they have more money to actually buy products so they are not bothered about saving them.
The carbon emissonc chart shows that the more developed countries such as the US A and the UK have the highetst rate of carbon emission. The less developed countires such as India they work together as a community to actually recylce their resoucres. China is a an advanced country with technology but there is still a lot of peopel living in poverty but they has a lowe carbon emission rate.
Although it is usually the more developed countries the over populated countries also encourage climate change and to the environment. For people living in less developed countries when they know they cannot afford to buy food and they are struggling for surrival i think it is bad if they carry on having kids because it is making the country over populated and they cannot provide for the children and this is not fair.
The most important thing I’ve learnt about climate change is that the richer and more developed countries mainly cause the poblem and they are the ones that dont suffer much from it as it is the less dveloped countries such as Bangladesh who are suffering from floodings at the min.

I agree with the first video that man has alot to do with affect of climate change.I feel that what we are doing to our planet such as pollution are having a major effect not just on ourselfs but what potenial we are effecting millions of people around the world.First world countries such as the UK and USA are destroying the planet for the 3rd world countries such as Africa.I think i cannot comment to much on who is responsible for the change in climate as i havent got a braod range of knowleague about the subject but i am to belive that we can help reduce and contruibe to the change in climate.
I have learnt alot by watching these 2 video but i think it doesnt give you an indication of who is responsible for the change in climate and would us changing what we do even do in our everyday lifes affect what is going to happen becuase its going to happen anyway.I also think at this stage of climate change it is worrying that we need to make a change now we still do not know what is causing it and people havent different views on a subject that could affect our future genaration.

The area I looked at within the college is the car park. One of the biggest polluters to carbon emmisions from cars. College should limit car parking space to encourage more people to car sahre. They should also limit who parks within the car park making it just for staff, to discourage people driving to college. I personally could help this area of the college by car sharing rather than bring two cars to the same place. Everyone within the college should pay a part in improving this area of the college, from heads of schools to students.

A child dies of unnecessary poverty every three seconds, the make poverty history campaign is the biggest anti-poverty movement which take the necessary steps to fight against poverty. Their main aim is to get rid of poverty all together.
Burma is ruled by one of the world’s most brutal military dictatorships, which flatly refuses to recognise the legally elected Government of the country, leaving people living here will little or no rights. The main aim of Burma Campaign is to put an end to this dictatorship by discouraging international investment and tourism.

I agree that the hot weather is due to global warming because all the pullution is heating the earth up. I also believe that global warming is causing other weather conditons such as hurricaines and floods around the world. Other people may not agree with me because they may think that it is all a myth and not true.
I’ve learnted new things about global warming and the issues about it.
