.. Fair Trade clothing

22 June 2010 by sianw

I went to town the weekend just gone, with my Nan and after Emma the woman from people and planet came to talk to us about fair trade clothing I avoided going near Primark because of where they get their clothing from and how much they paid their workers.

After Emma had spoken to us it made me more aware of fair trade clothing and every time I went into a shop I stopped to think about where they had been made and so one of the items I brought was recycled. So therefore I had persuaded myself to look more closely at the labels I was buying and taking more notice of where they had been made.

Here is the link to my video on Fair Trade. I made my movie by collecting pictures and writing some facts and information about cotton pickers and that we can make a difference if we all help out and go Fair Trade!

I enjoyed making this video because it is nice to know that you are helping to make people more aware of the issues in the world and this could make a difference so thats why i made this movie.

The next step is to take some action and GO FAIR TRADE!

The finished video :)

I made my video using the instructions provided by people and planet and followed the tutorial that I was given. I enjoyed creating the video and putting all of my information together so I can now watch it as the finished product. The reason for making the movie was to make people aware of fairtrade and what they can do to help. School uniforms going fairtrade would make a big difference to the fairtrade indusrty. I hope that it will have an effect on students and will make them at least look inot the situation. My next steps are to make more people aware and spead the word around college.

Here is the link to my video check it out!! :)

this is my video about cotton farmers, its just a short video to make people think how lucky they really are!

I cannot think of a time that someone last persuaded me to change my mind on buying something, although I would now buy fairtrade

coffee if I did actually drink coffee.

I think that if the college wants us to do these people and planet qualifications then they should at least have fairtrade college hoodies and sports clothing .

What is the problem?  The problem is that the Cotton farmers don’t get paid enough money so this is unfair.

Why should the college/students/the Principal care about this problem?  We should all care for this problem because we benefit from them but we aren’t giving back what they deserve out of it. We have the power to change things so we should care about others and try and help.

What is the solution and why and what action can be taken?  The solution is to make a change. One way to do this is that colleges/schools unifroms should all be fairtrade because then we are all ensuring that everyone gets a fair share out of their products.  People need to be made more aware so websites, campaigns and videos should be made to promote this and get people to join in!

Persuaded!

I have been persuaded a few times for example i wasnt going to go out one night but my friend persuaded me to come out, iv been persuaded to but a dress that i didnt think looked very nice but my freinds said that it looked really nice and i had to buy it!
I have recently been to a meeting about fairtrade, i wasnt very aware of what fairtrade was and what it did to help the farmers and people living in the differnet countries. This meeting has persuaded me to buy fairtrade foods because it does halp all these people that liov and work in third world countries.

If the fairtrade clothes actually looked nice and had a bit of variety then more people would actually buy them.

I have explained my message well enough for the people watching to understand the situation. The text is fairly persuasive as it has all the correct information located within it. As i only have the text at the moment, i don’t know what picures ill be using.

Fair trade clothing.

22 June 2010 by kirstyh1

I went shoppping with my friend and i was going to by a new outfit from Primark and my friend said it was discusting so i decided to take her opinion.

I took her opinion because i didnt want to feel uncomfortable and she made me feel bad by saying the poor people make our clothes.

I would convince my college friends to buy fairtrade clothes because all the people in poor countries that make our clothes dont really get paid for making them or picking cotton throughout the day for so many hours.
